Stand up (for the champions)
- Stand up (for the champions)
"Stand Up (For the Champions)" is a song by the band Right Said Fred released on the album "Stand Up" in 2002. Although quite popular in Europe, the song has not gained major support in America.
Themes and meanings
The song clearly refers to a man, possibly the singer, who wants to win some sort of competition. He claims he is "built to be the best". This may be an expression of arrogance, but is probably more of a general statement of confidence.
Furthermore, later in the lyrics, the titicular "champions" are mentioned. There is no exact references to what these champions may be, but one can assume they are celebrities of some sort. The lines about "falling down" may refer to either a failure in his past, or one occurring right now. This depends on the listener's individual interpretation of the song's timeline.
The Winstars Soccer Academy in Richmond Hill Ontario, Canada uses this song as their anthem and academy's official song.
