Pan American Airways (1998-2004)

Pan American Airways airline codes|PA|PAA| | was a United States airline that operated scheduled services in the eastern USA, as well as charters for tour operators and services to the Dominican Republic.Flight International 12–18 April 2005]

History

The Pan Am brand was sold by the second incarnation of Pan American World Airways to New Hampshire-based Guilford Transportation Industries, a railroad company headed by Tim Mellon.

After this transaction, a new airline was established on June 29, 1998. Guilford launched Pan American Airways with a fleet of seven Boeing 727s. This airline was commonly known as Pan Am III. The third incarnation began scheduled operations on October 7, 1999 and flew to nine cities in New England, Florida, the Canadian Maritimes and Puerto Rico. The focus was on secondary airports such as Orlando Sanford International Airport instead of Orlando International Airport, and Pease International Airport and Worcester Regional Airport instead of the crowded Logan International Airport in the Boston area.Fact|date=February 2007

The new owners relocated the company headquarters from Fort Lauderdale to Portsmouth in December 1998.

Guilford ceased operating Pan Am III on November 1, 2004, but operations were transferred to Boston-Maine Airways, which resumed Boeing 727 service under the "Pan Am Clipper Connection" brand from February 17, 2005.

Boston-Maine operated the service until February 29,2008. [ [http://blogs.usatoday.com/sky/pan_am_bostonmaine_airways/index.html Pan Am stops flying] . "USA Today". 2008-03-03.]
