- The Memoirs of Cleopatra
-
The Memoirs of Cleopatra is a novel written by Margaret George which was released on April 15, 1997.
The author spent years traveling through different parts of the Mediterranean to research this novel. The story starts off with Cleopatra VII's memories of when she is just three years old and continues until her death. It is written in an autobiographical manner, so as to make the reader believe that the story is told through Cleopatra's own voice. The book is 968 pages long.
A 1999 Hallmark TV miniseries, simply entitled Cleopatra, was loosely based on the events of the book. Although more historically accurate than other film adaptations of the Queen's life, it still deviated from the novel in several significant ways.
