Julian Constable Smith (September 11, 1885 – November 5, 1975) was United States Marine Corps general who served for 37 years, including service in Nicaragua (Navy Cross) and during World War II's Battle of Tarawa (Distinguished Service Medal).

Biography

Smith was born in Elkton, Maryland and graduated from the University of Delaware. He also attended the Army Command and General Staff School.

During World War II, he commanded the 2nd Marine Division at the Battle of Tarawa.

From February 1946 until his retirement, he commanded the Parris Island training camp. He was placed on the retired list on December 1, 1946.

After his death in 1975, he was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
