Marla Dorrel

Marla Dorrel (born October 24, 1951) is a former member of the town council of Cary, North Carolina.[1][2]

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Dorrel has lived in Cary since 1989. She holds a bachelor's degree in education and attended Jefferson Community College, Southwest Missouri State University, the University of Missouri and graduated from Florida International University. A former teacher and government relations executive, Dorrel served on the Cary Town Council from 1999 through 2007, representing Cary's District D, where her prominent role has placed her among the most important figures of the late 20th century Cary Town Council. Dorrel is married and has one stepson. Dorrel is a past president of the Republican Women of Cary.[citation needed] In 2007, Dorrel received Capital Area Preservation's Anthemion Award for Historic Preservation leadership and advocacy.[citation needed]
