- Parc Jean-Drapeau
Parc Jean-Drapeau (formerly called Parc des Îles) is situated South of
Montreal inQuebec ,Canada , right in the middle of the St. Lawrence River. It comprises two islands,Sainte-Hélène andÎle Notre-Dame .Each year
Île Notre-Dame hosts theGrand Prix of Montreal which takes place on theCircuit Gilles Villeneuve . TheMontreal Casino , the Beach, the Olympic Basin, the Floralies Gardens and the pavillon of Canada are also located on this island.Île Sainte-Hélène hosts "La Ronde" amusement park belonging toSix Flags as well as the Complexe aquatique de l'île Sainte-Hélène (Aquatic Complex), public pools built for the FINA championships in 2005. The site was largely built for and hosted the 1967World's Fair .The park was renamed in honour of
Jean Drapeau , the late mayor of Montreal and initiator of the Expo 67 exposition themed "Man and his World" or, in French, "Terre des Hommes".It is the site of the studio of Radio-Classique Montréalas well as the site of many outdoor concerts. The likes of mega-bands
Radiohead ,Metallica ,Bon Jovi ,Iron Maiden andNickelback have performed in the park. TheVans Warped Tour and theOsheaga Festival is also located there almost every year. The metal festivalHeavy MTL will also be held there annually.External links
