USS Connole (FF-1056)

The USS "Connole" (FF-1056) was a Sclass|Knox|frigate. Named for Commander David R. Connole, Captain of USS|Trigger|SS-237 when the submarine was lost in battle in March 1945. "Connole" was constructed for the United States Navy by Avondale Shipyard, Westwego, Louisiana, laid down March 23, 1967, launched July 20, 1968 and delivered August 22, 1969. She was commissioned August 30, 1969, decommissioned August 30, 1992 and struck January 11, 1995. "Connole" was transferred to Greece as "Ipiros" (F-456), which was decommissioned by Greece in 2003.
