Benjamin Markley Boyer (
January 22 ,1823 –August 16 ,1887 ) was a Democratic member of theU.S. House of Representatives fromPennsylvania .Benjamin M. Boyer was born in
Pottstown, Pennsylvania . He graduated from theUniversity of Pennsylvania atPhiladelphia in 1841. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1844 and practiced. He was deputy attorney general ofMontgomery County, Pennsylvania , from 1848 to 1850.In 1864 he was elected a Representative from
Pennsylvania to the Thirty-Ninth Congress as a Democrat, and was re-elected to the Fortieth Congress. He was not a candidate for renomination in 1868.In 1866 he accepted stocks from
Thomas Durant in the early stages of the Crédit Mobilier scandal. He was appointed judge of Montgomery County Court in 1882 and served until his death inNorristown, Pennsylvania , in 1887. Interment inWest Laurel Hill Cemetery inBala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania .
