WCWV is a gospel/positive country/bluegrass formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Summersville, West Virginia, serving the Summersville/Richwood/Clay/Sutton area. WCWV is owned and operated by R & S Broadcasting Co., Inc.

History and Programming

When it began on March 13, 1983, WCWV was the only Adult Contemporary station in Nicholas County, West Virginia and used the moniker "C-93 FM". The station played music from a prerecorded/semi-live track broadcast from another location which was also being played on multiple other small local radio stations in southern West Virginia and other areas. On Sundays the station turned its airwaves over to local churches for playing of praise, hymnal songs, and sermons. WCWV-FM broadcasts West Virginia University football and basketball games as well as football and some basketball games from Nicholas County High School.

In October 2006, the station changed its format to a gospel/positive (Christian) country/bluegrass music format, with its Sunday morning schedule devoted to local churches for songs and sermons. [http://wcwv929.com/id4.html]

WCWV's transmitter is located just north of Summersville, overlooking the communities of Birch River, West Virginia, and Craigsville, West Virginia, at 38° 21' 37" N, 80° 38' 49" W with a power of 50,000 Watts.
