Swiss chalet style

Swiss chalet style is a style of architecture that originated in Germany in the early 19th century and had popularity in certain areas in Europe and North America, notably in the architecture of Norway, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ocean Grove, New Jersey until the early 20th century.

The style is characterized by:
* Gable roofs with wide eaves
* Exposed construction beams, including large brackets
* Decorative carving and profiles
* Balconies
* Large windows
* Wood panel, usually painted, often in bright colors
