Roger Wilson (rugby player)

Roger Wilson (born 21 September 1981) is an Irish rugby union footballer. Formerly of Ulster he now plays for the Northampton Saints.

Played school rugby at rbai and was a member of the 1998 and 2000 schools cup winning teams. Roger displays all the physical attributes necessary for a top-class No.8 and this combined with his natural skills have seen him justifiably hold-down a regular starting spot in the Ulster XV since his debut in September 2003 against the Ospreys, and claim the Ulster Player of the Year Award at the end of 2004-05. Roger won his first Ireland cap in June 2005 during the tour to Japan. His grandfather, Harry McKibbin and his two uncles, Harry Jnr and Alastair, have also represented Ireland.

Roger was part of the Ireland A squad that participated in the Churchill Cup in the USA and Canada in June 2006Roger didn’t miss a game for Ulster for the entire 2006/07 season and accumulated the most minutes on the pitch with 1,591 minutes and 26 caps. His success continued Internationally when he was once again selected for the Ireland A Churchill Cup Tour in June 2007. Roger remains one of the most consistent members within Ulster Rugby and this was recognized when he was named Bank of Ireland Player of the Year for the 2006-07 season.
