Palmeira (Capeverdean Crioulo,
ALUPEC orALUPEK : "Palméra", also in the Sal Crioulo) is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in theSal Island League inCape Verde . The team participated in the national division twice after winning two titles since independence, one in1985 and another fifteen years later in2000 but has never won any titles at all. Their first insular opening tournament title was won in2007 and it is their only one.Origin of the name
The name mainly originates from several palms in the area, since there is a village name Palmeiras in the west of the island which has the same origin, the team does not owe its name from a village on the same island. Its logo colors are yellow, white and green not counting the soccer ball.
Logo
Its logo contains a green colored (or palm) shield with three white lines and the abbreviated full form on top, Palmeira on top of the second shield which has a palm tree in which it is named after with a football or a soccer ball, the island name in Portuguese is on the bottom.
