Ulta, based in Bolingbrook, Illinois, is a chain of makeup and hair supply stores and Salons in the United States, which serves a market similar to that of Sephora. Ulta carries a variety of cosmetics (Bare Escentuals, Smashbox, Amazing, Stila, Studio Gear, Elizabeth Arden, Garden Botanika, Lola, etc.) and skincare (Murad, Peter Thomas Roth, Dermalogica, md Solutions, etc.), professionally licensed haircare (Redken, Matrix, Sexy Hair, Tigi, Johnathon, Joico, Paul Mitchell Salon Systems, Schwartzkopf, etc.) as well as common drugstore brands. In December 1999, Lyn Kirby became the current President and Chief Executive Officer.
