Palilula neighbourhood, Niš

Palilula is a neighborhood of Niš, Serbia. It is in Niš municipality of Palilula.

Location

Palilula is in the south-central parts of Niš. It is partly flat and partly on hill bordered on the west by the neighborhood of Staro Groblje, on the south by neighborhood of Kovanluk, on the east by neighborhood of Apelovac, on the north by neighborhoods of Marger.

History

Palilula is one of the neighborhoods in Nis which was developed partly before and partly after 1878. Has one of first neighborhoods which was developed after construction of the railroad, the neighborhood give the name to the municipality of Palilula. Actually, the oldest part of neighborhood of Palilula, north of railroad is now administrative part of municipality of Medijana. The part of the neighborhoods south of railroad, which was developed after 1878 is now in the municipality of Palilula.

Characteristics

The neighborhood is mostly residential. There is a St. Nikola church, a famous City Music Club and a few famous restourants in the neighborhood.

Future development

There is a plan of construction of new city boulevard by the railroad of Nis-Sofia.
