Sverd i fjell ( _en. Swords in Rock) is a monument in
Hafrsfjord inStavanger ,Norway .The monument was made by sculpturer
Fritz Røed fromBryne and was opened byOlav V of Norway in 1983. Three big swords stands in the hill as a memory to theBattle of Hafrsfjord in year 872, when KingHarald Fairhair gathered all of Norway under one crown.The biggest sword represents the victorius King, and the two smaller swords represent the defeated kings. The monument also represents peace, as the three swords are stuck in the hill and will never be used again.
