Bernard William Kearney (
May 23 ,1889 –June 3 ,1976 ) was a Republican member of theUnited States House of Representatives fromNew York .Kearney was born in
Ithaca, New York , and graduated fromUnion College andAlbany Law School in 1914. He served in the New York National Guard from 1909 until 1917. He served overseas in various outfits duringWorld War I . He received theFrench Legion of Honor , theCroix de Guerre and thePhilippine Legion of Honor . He was the city judge ofGloversville, New York from 1920 to 1924. He was assistantdistrict attorney ofHamilton County, New York from 1924 to 1929 and ofFulton County, New York from 1929 to 1931. He served asdistrict attorney forFulton County, New York from 1931 to 1942, and was elected to Congress in 1942, where he served fromJanuary 3 ,1943 toJanuary 3 ,1959 . He died inVenice, Florida . He is buried inArlington National Cemetery .ources
