A Stranger In My Place

A Stranger In My Place

A Stranger In My Place is a 1970 song performed by Kenny Rogers & The First Edition. It was written by Kenny Rogers and Kin Vassy, two members of the country/rock group. It first appeared on their album, "Something's Burning."

The song is about the end of a relationship between two lovers, with one looking back at what went wrong and seeing that if they had done things differently they wouldn't have separated. The "stranger" refers to the ex-partner's future lover.

"A Stranger In My Place" was also used as the B-side the group's hit single Heed The Call in 1971, and was later covered by Anne Murray. Kenny Rogers also re-recorded the song in his solo career. This version appeared on his Love Is What We Make It album in 1985.

The song (like another of the group's B-sides, Mommas Waiting) has since gone on to become a favorite to fans and was included on their 1996 "Greatest Hits" album, issued by MCA.
