Pepsi Power Hour

Pepsi Power Hour

The Pepsi Power Hour was a one hour weekly program that aired on the Muchmusic television channel in Canada. The show was dedicated to 80s hard rock and heavy metal and showcased a variety of well and lesser known artists. The show usually had a catchy, grab the audience introduction featuring well known acts of the time. One such personality was Dee Snider of Twisted Sister who reminded viewers to "get ready" and "hold on to your seats!" One of the opening theme songs for the Pepsi Power Hour was the opening guitar riffs of Iron Maiden's "Two Minutes To Midnight." The show would usually have a feature artist of the week with an interview to accompany a video; for example: an interview with AC DC promoting "Fly on the Wall" and showing a video for the single "Danger." There was always some Canadian content to the show, promoting bands such as Helix and Voivod.

In the late 80s, Muchmusic released a series of compilation albums based on their various specialty shows, two Power Hour albums were released, featuring artists such as Iron Maiden, Accept, Megadeth, Kick Axe and more.

Hosts of the Power Hour included John "J.D." Roberts, Laurie Brown, Dan Gallagher and Teresa Roncon . Roberts is now a senior correspondent for CNN, the Cable News Network.

In the early 90s, the Power Hour was replaced by Power 30.
