(1996)|"We Come Strapped" is a 1994
gangsta rap album byMC Eiht andCompton's Most Wanted . It is widely regarded by fans and critics as one of the greatest rap albums ever released. The raw lyrical content of the album gained Eiht the notorious "Double-Sticker" on the front cover of the LP. The sticker read "The lyrical content on this album solely expressed the views of the artist". In other words this was just a way that Epic/Sony, Eiht's label at the time, could avoid any back-lashings from the public and they won't have to take responsibility for the outcome. Eiht's harsh delivery and cocky attitude are what draws the listener into every track. This is also the album where Eiht begins to produce, hense forming "EIHTHYPE Productions" with himself, long-time beat-maker DJ Slip, with Leli doing lyrics and William Zimmerman aka "Willie Z" on the keyboards. We Come Strapped has a lot of dark-beats, but all the beats on the album have a funky rhythm to them, especially the hit single "All For The Money" with its funky guitar riff in the back ground, as Eiht's lyrics portray the life of a young kid from the streets doing whatever he can to survive. Plus DJ Mike-T does some scratching on the album as well, bringing back the feeling of the old CMW albums. There are "endoludes" on this album, which are basically interludes, showing off some instrumentals that EIHTHYPE Productions have done. After MC Eiht did the Menace II Society film and released the popular single "Streiht Up Menace" from the platinum selling soundtrack, his buzz as a solo artist began to grow, and with long-time CMW memberTha Chill behind bars, it was up to Eiht to keep the banner for both the CPT and the CMW flying high. This album was also released at the height of Eiht's feud with DJ Quik, and Eiht throws more than a few insults on the track "Def-Wish III". "We Come Strapped" was released and hit # 1 on the Rap charts, eventually sellingPlatinum . It has been MC Eiht's most successful album to date.Track listing
