Tassadaq Hussain Khan

Tassadaq Hussain Khan was born in village Rehara of Poonch District of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan.

Early career

He joined the British Indian Army as a 2nd Lt.

After independence, he joined the Pakistan Army. He fought in the 1965 war with India and was with the Pakistan Army Units that had captured Indian territory. He had his career in the Baloch Regiment of Pakistan Army. He was a member of the Attock Conspiracy to overthrow the dictatorship of General Ayub Khan.

He was followed in the Baloch Regiment by his son Captain Riaz Hussain Khan, who was severely injured in East Pakistan during the war in 1971. Captain Riaz, like his father fought valiantly for Pakistan. Captain Riaz died during 1999, in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Army of Oman

After retirement from Pakistan Army, he was commissioned to lead the Armed forces of the Sultanate of Oman. During his term as Commander In Chief of the Army of Oman, Khan, led a coup against the Sultan, the coup was unsuccessful. Khan was airlifted out of Oman to Pakistan, by the Government of Pakistan. This coup was instrumental in removing the autocratic Government of the Sultan who was then succeeded by his Son the reformer. He was a friend of the Shah of Iran among others in the Middle East.

After retiring from the Army in Oman, he got employment for thousands of people from the Sudhan tribe.

He was a fierce nationalist who believed in the rights of the people of Kashmir, in particular the Sudhan tribe.

Political career

He joined the Tehrik-e-Istiqlal, political party of Air Marshal Asghar Khan and fiercely opposed the dictatorship of Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq.

He has five daughters and two sons. Most of his children live in the United States or in England. His daughter, Nasreen Tasadaq Khan currently residing in Utah USA, was the first one to win a gold medal in the Masters of English in the Punjab University. Thereby starting a flood gate of men and women of the Sudhun tribe who won medals in the fields of study and scholarship.

He died on October 27, 1980 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
