- Prior of Oronsay
The Prior of Oronsay was the head of the Augustinian monastic community of
Oronsay Priory , on the island ofOronsay, Inner Hebrides . It was in existence by 1353, perhaps founded byJohn of Islay, Lord of the Isles . It is probable that most of the priors have not come down to us by name. Maol Choluim MacDubhthaich ("Malcolm MacDuffie") was the last prior whose name we known. The priory was given to thebishop of the Isles by KingJames VI of Scotland .List of priors and commendators
