Vojnić

Vojnić (serb. Војнић) is a municipality in Karlovac county, Croatia. There are 5,495 inhabitants, 50% which are Serbs and 36% which are Croats.

Demography

In 1991 the municipality of Vojnić had a population of 8,236. 7,366 (89,43%) were Serbs, 436 (5,29%) were Muslims, 116 (1,40%) were Croats and 318 (3,86%) were othersFact|date=August 2007.

Vojnić is a rural municipality amidst hills. It has a mixed population of Bosnian Croats (Croats who fled from Bosnia during the war in 1992-1995), returning Serbs (mostly older than 65 years) and Croatian Moslims who are living next to the border with Croatia and Bosnia and who themselves feel to be acquainted with Bosnia and not with mostly Catholic Croatia. This makes it very difficult to form in Vojnić one steady local public authority because none of the parties has a majority or is sincerely willing to cooperate with one of the other two parties.Fact|date=October 2008
