Muslim Arab army was under the command ofKhalid ibn al-Walid and the battle took place atAnbar which is located approximately 80 miles from the ancient city ofBabylon . Khalid besieged theSassanian Persians in the city fortress, which had strong walls. Scores ofMuslim archers were used in the siege.
