Dongfang Road

Dongfang Road is a major street in Pudong, Shanghai. It serves the Lujiazui Financial district. Adjacent to Century Avenue, it is served by Century Avenue station on the Shanghai Metro. Formerly known as Wendeng Road, named after Wendeng County in Shandong Province.But in Shanghainese,the word "Wendeng" sounds like another word meaning "tomb",so this road was renamed "Dongfang" meaning "oriental" in 1990's.
