Preference votes and remainder seats

Several parties formed an electoral alliance: the liberal VVD and D66, the Christian CDA and ChristenUnie/SGP and pro-European left PvdA and GreenLeft.

Five seats are distributed as remainder seats these go to: Europe Transparant, VVD-D66 electoral alliance (which is alloted to the VVD), the SP, PvdA-GreenLeft electoral alliance (which is given to the PvdA) and the CDA-ChristenUnie/SGP electoral alliance (which is alloted to the ChristenUnie/SGP). In the last case the CDA actually lost a seat because of its electoral alliance, if the CDA and the ChristenUnie/SGP would not have entered into an alliance the CDA would have been alloted 8 seats and the ChristenUnie/SGP 1.

Several members were elected by preference vote: Ria Oomen-Ruijten of the CDA, Emine Bozkurt of the PvdA and Kartika Liotard of the SP.
