Pop Evil

Pop Evil is an American post-grunge band from Muskegon, Michigan. It was formed in 2001 by Leigh Kakaty, Dave Grahs, Tony Greve, Jamie Nummer, and Dylan Allison.

Biography

The members of the band are: Leigh Kakaty on lead vocals, Dylan Allison on drums, Dave Grahs and Tony Greve on guitar, andMatt DiRito on bass.

The band was formed from pieces of other Michigan bands in 2000. The band released its first album, "War of the Roses", on June 2, 2004.

Their current release is the 3-song EP "Ready or Not" featuring the concert favorite "Somebody Like You". They also have filmed a music video of the single released in 2006 starring Rossi Morreale and Britt Koth.

The band worked with producer Al Sutton (Kid Rock) from Rustbelt Studios in Royal Oak, Michigan for their new album.

The bands local singles "Hero", "100 in a 55", and "Somebody Like You" have gotten and continue to get frequent airplay on Grand Rapids Rock Alternative 97.9 WGRD-FM.

"Hero" has found airplay nationally on Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 20 (Octane) as well as XM radio Channel 48 (Squizz).

The new album titled "Lipstick On The Mirror" hits stores on August 12th; however, the band distributed a special edition of the CD free of charge to their devoted local fans at a concert at The Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI, on May 29, 2008.

Both "CD release parties" the first on May 25, 2005 and the second on August 2, 2004 at The Intersection were sold-out shows.

In the past the band had frequently played at The Intersection, The Whiskey Lounge, and The Woods in Grand Rapids, MI and also Rosebud in Grand Haven, MI.

The band is currently being considered to be signed by Atlantic Records.

The band's first to-be released national single will be "Hero".

Shooting for the "Hero" music video will commence on August 10, 2008 and is rumored to feature an 80's style aesthetic.

Rumored in Alternative Press October 2008 issue, Pop Evil will be co-headlining the Clear Throat Tour featuring heavy hitters such as U2, Iron Maiden, and Mark McGrath's acoustic set Infinite War Bunny.
