Shun Au

Shun Au OBE was born in Hong Kong in December 1955. He attended Ying Wa College in Hong Kong and came to Britain to study in 1975. He attended City University and earned a BSc in psychology and a MPhil in psychology. He then went to Cambridge University to complete his MPhil in Linguistics as well as his MBA.

Shun Au has work experience in both the private and public sectors covering the charity sectors, NHS and local authorities. He has been extremely active in charity work amongst the Chinese community. He was a founding member of the following organizations: the Islington Chinese Association ( [http://www.islingtonchinese.com/ external link] ) (1986), the Edinburgh Chinese Elderly Project (1988) and the Chinese Mental Health Association ( [http://www.cmha.org.uk/ external link] ) (1992). He currently resides as Chairman for the latter.

He was appointed an OBE for services to the Chinese community in the Queen's 80th birthday honours’ list in 2006. Shun Au has a professional interest in complementary therapies, especially in mainstreaming them into the NHS. He founded TCM HealthCare ( [http://www.tcm-healthcare.co.uk/ external link] ) in 1998 and has been managing director for the agency ever since. His interest include reading (especially politics, history and philosophy), music (especially classical medieval) and cinema.
