Trilliaceae family. It occurs in parts of the westernUnited States and westernCanada , usually in richforest . In the northern part of its range, which includes southernBritish Columbia , extreme southwesternAlberta ,Washington ,Oregon and east toMontana ,Wyoming and northernColorado , it often grows underDouglas-fir . Other trees which frequently shade thistrillium includegrand fir ,western red cedar , andwestern hemlock ;bigleaf maple ,red alder andSitka spruce join in near the coast. NearCalifornia shores, it is common undercoast redwood . Associated understorey plants include swordfern, vanilla leaf,violets , redwood sorrel and salal. It should be mentioned that "Trillium ovatum" occasionally comes not in white but in a maroon color. This is not to be confused with the normally ending of the flowering period when the white blooms slowly turn pink and the brown.Fact|date=November 2007References
