There was a previous school on this site, Elthorne High School. Formed in 1974 by the amalgamation of Walpole Grammar and Bordeston Secondary Modern and Northfields Girls schools, Elthorne was a successful school. However, it fell foul of the falling role in the borough and was closed in 1986. Parents and students had fought a valiant campaign to save the school, which made the national press and media. You can see more of this at the Save Elthorne website below.
Developments
The school was successful in 2007 in winning the right to open its own Sixth Form, which will open in September 2009. The school is currently seeking authorisation to offer the
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and a variety of vocational courses.External links
