WSGE signed on the air in October 1980 with an effective radiated power of 3,000 watts. In January 2005, the college approved a lease with
Clear Channel Communications for space on their nearby tall tower. The transmitting antenna is now at a height of 806 feet versus the previous just under 200 feet height on the former tower. With approval from theFederal Communications Commission , on June 27, 2005, the station increased its power to 6,000 watts. WSGE identifies itself as "Your Eclectic Music Station." Its programming is mostly Adult Album Alternative [AAA] formatted music with special emphasis on local, independent musicians and live in-studio performances. Other programing reflects a diversity of styles represented on various "theme" programs.
