Johan Botha (opera singer)

Johan Botha, born on August 19, 1965 in Rustenburg, South Africa, made his stage debut at the municipal theatre in Roodepoort as Max in "Freischütz" in 1989. He currently lives in Vienna, Austria. His international breakthrough occurred in 1993 at the Opera de la Bastille as Pinkerton in Puccini's Madame Butterfly. Since then he has performed at leading opera venues around the world such as the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Opera Australia, Royal Opera House London, La Scala, and the Salzburg Festival.
