On September 2006, Wright was the No. 1 overall pick in the
Continental Basketball Association draft. However, theBuffalo Silverbacks of the American Basketball Association had already signed Wright to an ABA contract in July 2006. Wright went on to sign another contract with the CBA'sMinot SkyRockets in October 2006.On December 2006, the SkyRockets released Wright after he was arrested for drug possession and driving with a suspended license. On July 17, 2007, Wright signed with the ABA's

On December 5, 2007, Wright signed with theAlbany Patroons of the CBA. Wright would play in 30 Games for the Patroons, averaging 8.8pts and 5.7 rebounds per game. Wright appeared in 10 games in his freshman year at Syracuse, averaging 1.3 points and 1.3 rebounds. He scored a career-high five points against Cornell and logged a career-high 13 minutes against Siena.
