Cory Murphy

Cory Murphy (August 28, 1973 in San Diego, California), was a castmate on "", the third season of MTV's long-running reality television show.

Described by "Real World" roommate Judd Winick as an unassuming and naive Christian girl from Fresno, California [Winick, Judd; "Pedro and Me: Friendship, Loss and What I Learned"; Henry Holt; 2000; Page 111.] , Cory found it difficult to be confrontational when necessary, particularly with her castmate David "Puck" Rainey, with whom the other castmates experienced conflict. She became upset at times during her stay in the house, as when her attempts to find a job were fruitless, or when tensions arose between her and her castmate Mohammed Bilal's girlfriend Stephanie when Cory asked her if she was "half white" due to her light skin tone. Mohammed and Cory had a discussion about racial issues, and Cory tearfully admitted she comes from a rather "white" world, and did not mean to offend Mohammed or his girlfriend. Cory was roommates with Rachel Campos, and after Jo Rhodes moved into the house following Puck’s eviction, and became friends with Rachel, with whom Cory had been close, Cory talked about how she'd felt pushed aside. Cory also felt excluded by the closeness of Judd, Pam and Pedro, but halfway through their six month stay in the house, Cory became closer to them, and their trio became a quartet. Cory was among the three people, along with Pam Ling and Sean Sasser, mentioned by Winick in the dedication of "Pedro and Me", which reads, "To my fellow travelers...I love you with all my heart."

After the "Real World"
