Preetmohan ("Preet") Singh is currently involved in
American politics as the Deputy Director of Public Policy atThe Interfaith Alliance (TIA), a non-profit advocacy organization based in Washington, DC.Born in
New Delhi ,India , Singh moved to the U.S. at age 10. He attended public schools inCalifornia and graduated fromGeorgetown University inWashington, DC . Singh also studied atOxford University inEngland .From 2002-2005, Singh was National Director of the
Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF ). Singh, aSikh , has made over 100 public presentations about post-9/11 civil liberties issues, Sikh-American culture, and civil rights history at conferences, universities, and law enforcement agencies. He also producedThe Sikh Next Door , a multi-media film project that encourages students to celebrate diversity. He is currently producing "A Dream in Doubt ," an hour-long documentary directed byTami Yeager forPBS . The film explores the aftermath of the first post-9/11 hate crime fatality of a Sikh gas station owner inMesa, Arizona on September 15, 2001.Singh serves on the National Board of Directors of the
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and theHealy Fellows at Georgetown University.
