Hewitt-Trussville High School

Hewitt-Trussville High School is a high school located in Trussville, Alabama. The school was named after Robert Hewitt, who was school superintendent in 1969. Hewitt-Trussville has several varsity sports teams, including baseball, football, basketball, soccer, golf, wrestling, cross-country, indoor and outdoor track and field, cheerleading, and volleyball. The school also has several reputable electives and extra-curricular activities. The fomer R.G. Hewitt High School was located where Hewitt Trussville Middle School is currently. The new high school building was constructed in 1984, but a newer facility is currently being built off of Deerfoot Parkway in Trussville. Notable alumni

*Mike Mordecai, a right-handed hitting infielder in Major League Baseball who most recently played for the Florida Marlins.
*Jay Barker, quarterback for the University of Alabama football team. Helped win the 1992 National Championship vs. Miami.
*Brandon Cox, quarterback for the Auburn Tigers football team.
*Justin Wood, 2002 graduate, Cosmopolitan Magazine's 2005 Mr. Alabama, and winner of ABC's "I Survived a Japanese Game Show".

Alma mater

The alma mater of Hewitt-Trussville is sung to the tune of God of Our Fathers, an English hymn. The lyrics are:

Dear Hewitt-Trussville, proudly now we stand
For the finest high school in our noble land.
Our hearts beat high with pride at Hewitt's name,
And cherish too her glory and her fame.
