Tarisa Watanagase ( _th. ธาริษา วัฒนเกส, born
30 November 1949 ) is the governor of theBank of Thailand . She succeededPridiyathorn Devakula , who was appointed finance minister in the interim government. economist , Tarisa joined the central bank in 1975. She was appointed deputy governor in 1992. She graduated B.E. and M.E. fromKeio University , Tokyo Japan in 1973 and 1975 respectively, and then she obtained the Honorary Ph.D. fromKeio University , Tokyo Japan in 2007 [http://www.keio.ac.jp/english/news/2007/070508.html] . She also holds a doctoral degree in economics fromWashington University , USA and has experience in every key department, including monetary policy, money market, supervision and payment systems.
