Captodative effect

The captodative effect in chemistry is the effect on the stability of a carbon-centred radical determined by the combined action of a captor (electron-withdrawing) and a dative (electron-releasing) substituent, both attached to the radical centre [IUPAC Gold Book [http://www.iupac.org/goldbook/C00795.pdf Link] ] . The term is also used for certain unsaturated compounds.
