- Walter Dexter
Walter Dexter (born 1931) is a
ceramic artist and educator. Dexter received a diploma in ceramics from theAlberta College of Art in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and continued his studies at theSwedish School of Arts and Crafts on a scholarship. Dexter is recognized by the ceramics community as a pioneer inRaku ware technique, as an educator, and also as a writer. from 1968-1974, he was head of the art ceramics department at theKootenay School of the Arts in B.C., Canada. Most of his work consists of vessel and plate forms decorated with dancing figures, a motif inspired from working withPaul Soldner . He currently maintains a studio practice in Victoria, B.C. where he has lived since the death of his beloved wife, writerRona Murray .Awards
