Robert Andrew Burns

Sir Robert Andrew Burns(born 21 July 1943Fact|date=August 2007), was a diplomat in the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He was born on 21 July 1943 and educated at Highgate School. He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge with a Master of Arts (MA).

Diplomatic career

He was with the Diplomatic Service between 1965 and 2003. He held the office of Ambassador to Israel between 1992 and 1995 and later held the office of Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macau between 1997 and 2000. He held the office of the British High Commissioner to Canada.

ubsequent career

Sir Andrew is the Chairman of the Council of Royal Holloway, a constituent college of the University of London.

Honours and Decorations

He was invested as a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (C.M.G.) in 1992, and as a Knight of the order (K.C.M.G.) in 1997. He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society of Arts (F.R.S.A.) in 1997
