Paul Genki Kahn is a Soto Zen priest leading the [http://www.highzen.com/ High Mountain Crystal Lake Zen Community] in Wyckoff, New Jersey. He also currently serves as Executive Director of the [http://www.peacemakercommunity.org/about/bios/index.htm#staff Zen Peacemaker Circle] and is also listed as a teacher in the White Plum Asanga. [http://www.whiteplum.org/Alphabetic%20listing.htm] A Dharma heir to Tetsugen Bernard Glassman, Genki Kahn was ordained a priest by Hakuyu Taizan Maezumi in 1975 and later received his Final Vows (Denkai) from Dennis Genpo Merzel. Genki Kahn came to Zen practice in 1970, studying first under Robert Baker Aitken in Hawaii and then at the Zen Center of Los Angeles from 1972 to 1980. Aitken had dissuaded Genki Kahn from studying in Japan when Kahn first studied under him, with Aitken warning that he would find more bureaucracy than spirituality there. [Green] He then followed Bernard Glassman to New York to help establish the Greyston Mandala, a Zen community. He took over leadership of the Zen Peacemaker Order in May, 2008.

In addition to providing Zen instruction, Genki Kahn is also a licensed social worker who offers yoga and meditation instruction to those with mental health disorders. [Perez; 174, back cover]
