Ann Sexton

Sexton recorded a number of records for John Richbourg during the 1970s. A minor recording artist, her obscure recordings became very popular during the Northern Soul phenomenon in Europe.

*"Ann Sexton Anthology" (Soul Brother Records 2004)Ann Sexton, using her real name Mary Burton, was rediscovered by a co worker, a New York City Blues harmonica legend named Sonny Hudson at the Bronx, NY school where she worked as a paraprofessional. Due to inquiries about Sexton, German DJ and promoter Dan Dombrowe and Hudson(acting as her informal manager) were put in touch with each other and began serious negotiations. After a lengthy period, Sexton agreed to go on stage again after 30 years of absence. In March 2007, she made her first performance since the 1970s at the Baltic Soul Weekender (Germany). She performed again at the Baltic Soul Weekender (Germany) in April 2008 and wants to "return as long as she is living" (Ann Sexton).
