John Beck Hofmann (born 1969) is a Hollywood screenwriter and director. Hofmann also serves as a Director of Photography for
NASA 'sJet Propulsion Laboratory inPasadena ,California ,USA , where his work has recently been featured theIMAX feature "Roving Mars ", James Cameron's "Aliens of the Deep " andNOVA 's "Mars: Dead or Alive" & "Welcome to Mars." His 1999 documentary on theMars Pathfinder Mission, "The Pathfinders", won a Gold Plaque award at theChicago International Film Festival - Intercom. Hofmann was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1969, and moved to California in 1987, where he attended Azusa Pacific University, graduating in 1992.

In addition to his contributions to television programs like NOVA's "Mars: Dead or Alive" & "Welcome to Mars," Hofmann has served as stage manager for
Geraldo Rivera from 1999 - 2003 for bothCNBC andFOX networks. Hofmann also worked as stage manager for other CNBC/FOX hosts such asChris Matthews andGreta Van Susteren .Music

Hofmann is currently producing and directing his first feature film called "Tyranny"; a story about a young artist, Daniel McCarthy, who, after losing his wife, becomes obsessed with uncovering a global conspiracy, and spends 10 years designing a secret revolution against the conspirators. "Tyranny" is set to be released in late 2007.
