Extraradical hyphae

These are the hyphae that live outside of the roots, branching in a dichotomous manner.

Characteristics

*Thick and wavy
*Fusion] between strands has been observed
*Don't usually differentiate into rhizomorphs (multi-hyphal strands)
*Exist at a density of 1-25 meters per gram of soil
