Cáceres began playing professional football at
Argentinos Juniors and in 1991 was transferred to River Plate where he won his first title, the 1991 "Apertura ".Cáceres then moved to
Spain to play forReal Zaragoza , where he won the Spanish Cup in 1994 and theUEFA Cup Winners' Cup the following year.He returned to Argentina for a brief spell at
Boca Juniors before moving again to Spain in late 1996 to play forValencia CF , where he stayed until the end of the 1997-98 season. In six seasons with the club, he played 218 matches in all competitions, scoring five goals. South American Under 17 Football Championship in 1985. At full international level, he earned 31 caps for the Argentina national team,and was also part of the squad that won the Copa América in 1993 and the one that took part in the 1994 World Cup.Honours
