Silvia Poll Ahrens (born September 24, 1970) is Nicaraguan-born swimmer from Costa Rica, who won a total number of eight medals at the 1987 Pan American Games.

Career

Poll was born in Managua, Nicaragua. Her parents were Germans who settled in Nicaragua where they had Silvia and her younger sister Claudia Poll, who is also a competitive swimmer. After the 1972 earthquake of Managua and rising political tensions, Silvia's parents decided to move south to Costa Rica.

Poll is a former backstroke and freestyle swimmer for Costa Rica, who won the silver medal in the 200m Freestyle at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Her silver medal was the first medal ever for a Costa Rican athlete.
