Due his haircut, facial hair style and his skinny figure he was nicknamed "El Mosquetero" (The Mosqueteer), but is also known as "Djorkaeff" or "El Matador".Before moving to Saprissa, he played for Saprissa's archrivals
L.D. Alajuelense , then was loaned toUniversidad de Costa Rica and spent the whole season playing in the second division, the following season, he was loaned again toMunicipal Pérez Zeledón , then he came back toL.D. Alajuelense for a few more seasons. He suffered an injury on his knee, so he missed the entire 2005-2006 season, and by the end of the season his contract expired withL.D. Alajuelense so he decided to move on and signed forDeportivo Saprissa .He is considered a competent striker, with natural skills for scoring, quickness, shooting and excellent view of the game, making him a very complete player. Although being second on the team in scoring with 12 (averaging almost 200 minutes between goals) and leading the team with assists, he is far from a fan favorite and is often whistled off the field but recent improvement in form has won back some support.
He is not just a great striker but also a great playmaker and he is usually one of the best assisters on his team. His first season with
Deportivo Saprissa was very hard, he didn`t score too much, but ended up with 13 assists. In the last couple of season he became one of the most dangerous forwards in the region, helping his team to earn the local title twice, being the top scorer of his team and also he was called up to the national team.
