Bob Hogue is an athletic conference commissioner, veteran sportscaster, and a former Republican member of the Hawaii State Senate representing the 24th district for six years (2000-2006). Hogue was the Republican nominee for
U.S. Congress inHawaii's 2nd congressional district , to replaceEd Case but lost in the 2006 general election to formerLieutenant Governor Mazie Hirono .In 2007, Hogue was named the Commissioner of the Pacific West Conference, which includes nine NCAA Division II schools--Hawaii Pacific University, Brigham Young University Hawaii, Chaminade University of Honolulu, University of Hawaii at Hilo, Grand Canyon University, Dixie State College of Utah, Notre Dame de Namur University, Dominican University of California, and San Francisco Academy of Art University.
Hogue also works part-time as a sportscaster for KUMU radio--AM1500 "The Team" and OC-16, hosting the PacWest Magazine radio and television shows. Hogue also does occasional play by play and color commentary for OC-16, writes a weekly sports and recreation column for MidWeek magazine and is a frequest contributor to Hawaii Parent magazine. His first novel, "Sands of Lanikai", is expected to be released in 2009.
Hogue graduated from the University of Southern California (1975) where he played baseball. He was a former sportscaster with KWWL-TV in Waterloo, IA and the Iowa Television Network (1979-84), also with KCRA-TV in Sacramento, CA (1984-88),and KHON-TV in Honolulu, HI (1988-2000). He earned a CPA working for Price Waterhouse & Co. in southern California (1977). Hogue was born September 7, 1953 in Whittier, CA.
