Vernon Basil (Vern B.) Moore (born
September 23 ,1922 inToronto ,Ontario ,Canada ; diedMay 11 ,2006 , also in Toronto) was a Canadiannewspaper man and figure in Toronto'sCatholic charities .Moore retired from
Le Droit (where he had been the major advertising figure for Toronto) in 1987 but remained very involved with both theSerra Club of Toronto (along with his wife Leonore, he was a major promoter of vocations to the priesthood- one of their sons is a Roman Catholic priest) and theSociety of Saint Vincent de Paul ; he was also very influential in theKnights of the Holy Sepulchre holding the position of knight grand cross. He was instrumental in the movement ofProvidence Health Care Centre to its current location in 1962 and served as Chairman of the Board of Providence for fifteen years. He also served as the Director of Public Relations for theCanadian Red Cross Society .He died May 11th, 2006 at Providence after a battle with
lewy body dementia andheart disease . He was survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, four children and eight grandchildren as well as two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law.External links
