Phoebe Gilman (
April 4 ,1940 –August 29 ,2002 ) was an American children's book author and illustrator.Born in
The Bronx ,New York , she lived inEurope ,Israel , and finally settled inCanada in 1972.She attended the
High School of Art and Design , spent a brief time atHumber College and went toArt Students League of New York . Gilman taught for fifteen years at theOntario College of Art .Phoebe Gilman died of
leukemia at age 62. She was survived by her husband, three children, and two grandchildren.Bibliography
