François Joseph Modesto (born August 19, 1978 in Bastia) is a French footballer who plays as a defender for AS Monaco.

Modesto played his first professional match for SC Bastia against Monaco, in which Bastia won 2–0. After two seasons and 16 games for Bastia he spent four seasons in Italy with Cagliari until September 2004 when he left for Modena. He then returned to Cagliari but signed for Monaco in 2004.
